About Our Advocacy

Intro & "What" exactly our advocacy is ...

9reenDream is the 9th group from Grade 11 St. Ignatius Class. We DREAM of a better and GREENER home, as we make up the creators of Nosa Casa Comune "Serving the nature, Securing the Land"

9reenDream is a group composed of Grade 11 students from the class of St. Ignatius of Loyola class from The Canossa School City of Santa Rosa. We are tasked to make an advocacy based on the Catholic Social Teachings. We advocate to raise awareness that our world is slowly dying and we must act upon it. Climate change and Global warming is a serious threat and its effects on our planets are getting harsher and harsher. We want to continue preserving our planet and protect it so that future generations of our society are still able to appreciate and continue on befitting the gifts that our Planet Earth provides.

“Together, we pledge our commitment to raising awareness about the stewardship of creation”.

- Pope Francis

As Pope Francis said that phrase, We have come to a thought on advocating our fellow brothers and sisters on caring for our common home. Climate Change ‘til Global warming, are all caused by humans – all of us. With that, we should make up for the disasters we all have made. As global warming has had such harmful consequences on us, including the destruction of the environment and many other negative effects, and since human actions are also what is causing these, we must make a transition in order to care for our common home. God's creation requires due care, respect, and observance of environmental regulations. We all need to accept responsibility and pay attention to our obligation to care for the environment.

What exactly is our advocacy about?

Our advocacy is all about protecting and restoring the environment so that it can become better and safer. Because human-caused global warming or climate change affects our environment. We are encouraged to help and to be responsible in all that we do for our environment. For example, properly managing our waste is the most effective way of protecting the environment, and participating in the community helps to reduce the harmful effects that could affect the environment. This type of advocacy benefits future generations by making them feel more connected to nature and less polluted.

VISION:

Today, God's creation is more distressed than ever before and yearns to be freed. The poor and disadvantaged are being particularly impacted by the environmental crises of today. All people of good will, including Christians, must take immediate action. If we are going to be the stewards of this God’s creation, entire nations and people need to undergo an ecological conversion. Pope Francis wrote an encyclical called “Laudato Si”, which was released in May 2015. It emphasizes the protection of God's creation and all people as well as more general issues of how God, people, and the Earth are related. In the final chapter of “Laudato Si”, Pope Francis puts in the opening paragraph, “Many things have to change course, but it is we human beings above all who need to change”. In other words, the answers to our ecological crisis will never truly be found if we ourselves don't alter our views and lifestyles. The theme of stewardship, or the need to take good care of everything that has been given out of love and respect for the Creator who gave it, as well as love and respect for those with whom it is to be shared, runs throughout “Laudato Si”. All the wonders and resources the earth provides us with are ours to share, and we are responsible for maintaining the environment in which we live.

MISSION:

We cannot continue to damage the ecosystem. Modern civilization has a significant impact on our home planet. But we can't put all the burden on the environment if we wish to coexist with nature. Natural and artificial environments are necessary for all living things to survive. The resources that the atmosphere supplies are essential for survival. In such a case, protecting mother nature from being over-exploited due to population growth becomes crucial. We understand that factors such as population growth, deforestation, and other factors contribute to climate change and global warming. Our modest efforts can have a significant impact. We need to use public transportation as much as possible if we want to maintain the quality of the air we breathe. To properly dispose of waste and manage waste, we must place it in the appropriate bins. We must make the necessary measures to protect our natural resources and ecosystem. We can do this by using renewable energy, avoiding plastic bags, planting more trees, and other strategies. Mother Nature provides us with so much. We must protect the environment if we want to reduce the factors that contribute to climate change and take action for sustainable development.

Purpose & Goal in the advocacy

The purpose of our advocacy is to teach them how to take care of our environment and to spread awareness of what is happening in our environment to the people who live with us in our common home. Encouraging and urging the audience to participate in activities that we recommend to help improve and protect our common home. Our goal is to act and treat the environment respectively as part of giving importance to the creation of God. Given that natural catastrophes and other harmful consequences have an impact on our ecosystem, we may be able to become environmental stewards by taking a variety of actions that could actually help protect and care for our environment. Segregation, proper waste disposal, and community cleanup voluntary activities are just a few ways we may help with this.

What's Happening?

Our common home is experiencing many problems. These problems include pollution and climate change, the issues of water, the loss of biodiversity, the decline in the quality of human life, the breakdown of society and global inequality, which in turn are given a weak human response. A quickening of human activity marked by a faster pace of life and labor in contrast to nature's and change's more gradual tempo. This quick pace has caused us to overlook some prevalent environmental problems and societal concerns that are slowly but definitely looming dangerously over our globe. Environmental protection is a moral responsibility. All life on earth and the earth itself are a part of God's creation. We are obligated to honor this gift. We have a duty to preserve the environment we inhabit and to distribute the gifts the earth bestows upon us. We must pause and consider how we live on our planet in light of the changing environment. In his encyclical Laudato Si, Pope Francis raises important issues regarding the relationship between God, humankind, and the Earth, as well as the need to protect the environment and all living things.

Factors that causes Climate Change & Global Warming

Climate change is the term used to describe changes to the earth's environment. Carbon dioxide is the source of climate change that results from human-caused global warming. The increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has caused the natural greenhouse effect worse. Some of them, such as carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide, are slow-acting greenhouse gases that have a long-term impact on the climate. Changes in variability, such as extreme occurrences, as well as changes in average conditions are both possible effects of climate change. Human activities that affect the climate include deforestation, burning fossil fuel, industrial waste, a different sort of pollution, and many more. Particles and aerosols in the atmosphere can affect climate even if some of them originate from natural sources like volcanoes and marine plankton. All of these have a severe negative impact on the ecology and climate. And due to human activities, numerous plant and animal species become extinct.

A Guide to Our Advocacy

Hello Our fellow Brothers & Sisters

As a family we can participate together in Christ's mission as serving God and showing love to one another, we can all participate in Christ's mission as members of families and communities. We can demonstrate this by appropriately communicating with them and urging them to understand the significance of our "Home".
